Travelers across the country are arriving early for flights as Transportation Security Administration workers continue to report to work without pay during the ongoing government shutdown.

At Texarkana Regional Airport, 13 TSA employees are affected after receiving no pay in their most recent paychecks.

Airport Director Paul Mehrlich said all TSA staff are still reporting to work, despite the financial strain. The airport is now working with the community to support those employees by collecting gift cards and gas cards, with plans to partner with local food shelters if needed.

Mehrlich says smaller airports like Texarkana Regional may offer quicker security lines during the shutdown, while travelers using larger airports should plan for extra time.
