The Red River Army Depot is set to receive a major boost following a new federal initiative aimed at expanding drone manufacturing.
According to KTBS, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz helped secure a provision in the National Defense Authorization Act to support the SkyFoundry project. The initiative is designed to transform the depot into a leading hub for unmanned aircraft systems, commonly known as drones.
The U.S. Army has now awarded an $80 million contract to Hadrian Automation to demonstrate advanced manufacturing capabilities and produce key drone components.
Cruz says the investment will strengthen Texas’ role in defense innovation and support military readiness.
