Energy Exploration Technologies Inc., also known as EnergyX, is unveiling a first-of-its-kind lithium plant in East Texas. The facility is now the largest Direct Lithium Extraction site in the United States, with a current capacity of 250 tons per year.
The company invested about $20 million into the 22,000-square-foot Project Lonestar plant, located at TexAmericas Center near the Red River Army Depot. The site was refurbished from a former defense facility.
EnergyX is extracting lithium from brine in the Smackover formation and manages nearly 50,000 acres of lithium resources across Texas and Arkansas.
The Hooks facility will serve as a testing and research site, with plans to create more than 40 skilled jobs and expand production to as much as 50,000 tons annually.
Company officials say the project will help strengthen the U.S. battery supply chain. EnergyX is headquartered in Austin and was founded in 2018.
