Police said Wendell Champion Jr. confronted his wife, Candis Champion, in the parking lot as employees arrived for work. Investigators say employee Eddie Ray Hill Jr. tried to intervene and was shot and killed. Police said Champion then shot his wife before taking his own life.
Candis Champion was taken to a local hospital and is reported in stable condition. Officials said the shooting was limited to the parking lot and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Texarkana Aluminum has activated a crisis response team and counseling services for employees.
