Texas reports 3,852 new COVID-19 cases, 161 more deaths

    Texas health officials on Thursday reported 3,852 new cases of COVID-19 and the deaths of 161 people sickened by the virus.

    The Texas Department of State Health Services said the state’s total number of reported cases so far is now at 649,809 and 13,853 deaths have been reported.

    Health officials said that 3,575 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 on Thursday. The number of hospitalizations has been decreasing since peaking in July at 10,893, and the number of newly reported cases has also been decreasing since then.

    Bowie County Emergency Operations Center reports a total of 1,059 positive COVID-19 cases, with 643 recoveries and 71 deaths. There are currently 345 active cases being traced in Bowie County.

    Cass County has a total 271 cases with 236 recovered and 12 deaths.  Cass County currently has 23 active cases.
