Texas A&M University-Texarkana is making the move to NCAA Division II athletics.

University officials announced they've been accepted into the NCAA's Division II membership process and will begin transitioning from the NAIA. University President Dr. Ross Alexander called the approval an exciting milestone that will help attract talented student-athletes while enhancing competition and the game-day experience.

Athletics Director Ryan Wall said the move reflects years of hard work by faculty, staff, coaches, and campus leaders. The transition will take several years as the university works to meet NCAA requirements for compliance, facilities, financial aid, budgets, and conference membership before becoming a full Division II member.
