A shoplifting attempt turned violent Monday morning, resulting in a robbery arrest, according to the Texarkana, Texas Police Department.
Officers say 37-year-old Michaelia Mack tried to leave a business on New Boston Road with a $110 wig hidden under her sweatshirt. Employees stopped her at the door, but police say Mack responded by punching one employee in the face and running toward the back of the store.
During the escape, she dropped the wig and fled out the back door.
Police say Officer Cutter Webb located Mack just minutes later a few blocks away, where her sweatshirt and another wig were also found nearby.
Mack was arrested and booked into the Bi-State Jail on a charge of robbery.
Authorities say when a theft turns violent, it becomes a much more serious offense.
