Union workers at the Texarkana Aluminum Plant are rallying this week as contract talks continue with United Steelworkers Local 9609. The current labor agreement, covering about 350 employees, expires Saturday.
Workers say they want competitive wages, along with safer and more stable working conditions. If no deal is reached, employees could keep working while negotiations continue.
The plant, located in Nash since 1986, produces flat-rolled aluminum sold nationwide. It’s now owned by Ta Chen International, which invested $200 million in expanding the facility in 2019.
