Texarkana police have arrested a 19-year-old man after a brutal assault that left the victim's hand severed.
Officers were first called to a home on Lumpkin Street just after 4 a.m. Wednesday, where they found a 44-year-old man on a porch, missing a hand and suffering from other injuries. A tourniquet was applied before EMS arrived. The severed hand has not been found.
Following a trail of blood, officers were led to a home on Waterman Street. After obtaining a search warrant, police found two men and evidence of the assault.
Deroyce Brown, 19, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police say the victim was an invited guest, and a fight likely led to the attack.
The second man was questioned and released. The investigation is ongoing.
