The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam involving callers pretending to be police officers.

Authorities say the scammers threaten victims with arrest unless money is sent immediately. Police stress that officers will never call and demand payment to keep someone out of jail.

If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately and do not share personal information or send money.
