Stuart Duncan Hammonds faces 12 felony animal cruelty charges after investigators say he killed dogs on rural Bowie County property, some of which were reported missing by others.
An affidavit says officers found skeletal remains and carcasses of multiple dogs near Hammonds’ camper.
His bond was initially set at $1.2 million before being cut in half. Prosecutors argue the current amount is reasonable.
If convicted, Hammonds could face up to 10 years in prison on each count. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for next month.
