Drone production at Red River Army Depot is moving ahead with millions of dollars in federal funding, new partnerships, and workforce training.
Altech, a Texarkana-based company, has received a $13 million federal contract to help transform the depot into a major hub for unmanned aircraft systems. The U.S. Army has also awarded an $80 million contract to Hadrian Automation to expand advanced manufacturing, including drone production, with the project expected to be completed by spring 2027.
TexAmericas Center officials say the expansion is expected to create jobs and attract defense contractors and suppliers to the region. Meanwhile, Texarkana College is developing specialized drone production courses to help train the future workforce needed to support the depot's growing mission.
