Twenty-two-year-old Xavian De’Ray Jahkee Banks is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 19-year-old Gary Nichols. Police say officers responded to multiple 911 calls on Aug. 24, 2025, at the Ridge Apartments on North Oats Street and found Nichols suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts by officers and EMS crews, Nichols died at the scene.
Banks remains in the Miller County Detention Center. Court records show another pretrial hearing is scheduled for June 2, with a jury trial set for June 22 if he maintains his not guilty plea.
