Officials say callers claiming to be with the Miller County Sheriff's Office tell victims they missed jury service and now have a warrant for their arrest. The scammers then demand money and instruct victims to meet them in a parking lot to pay the supposed fines.
The Clerk's Office says it does not contact jurors about warrants, warrants are never "frozen," and law enforcement will never ask someone to pay for a warrant in a parking lot.
Anyone receiving a call like this should hang up, never provide personal information or payment, and report the incident to local law enforcement.
