A lightning strike has knocked six local radio stations off the air.

The Texarkana Media Center’s transmitter site in Wake Village was struck by lightning Saturday afternoon during a storm. The strike started a fire inside the transmitter building, causing extensive damage.

The stations affected are KTOY 104.7, 107.1 The Patriot, 107.9 The Fan, Hits 105, Hot 99.3 and Real Country 98.7.

KTOY is currently operating on a backup transmitter and can be heard across Texarkana. The other stations are available through their websites and the Texarkana Media Center app.

Management says repairs will begin as soon as insurance officials complete their assessment. This is an ongoing story.
