September is Hunger Action Month, and Harvest Regional Food Bank is raising awareness about food insecurity across Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas.

The Texarkana-based food bank serves about 60,000 people each year across a 10-county region.

Officials say rising grocery prices continue to increase the need for food assistance, as many families struggle to afford both food and other necessities.

Harvest kicked off the month with an event recognizing donors, volunteers, and community leaders. Longtime volunteer and board member Mike Ingram was also named the 2026 Hunger Hero of the Year.

The food bank says every dollar donated can provide up to five meals for families facing hunger.
