Texarkana residents are being warned about a new email scam known as a Business Email Compromise, or BEC attack. Cybercriminals are using real business email addresses to send fake file-sharing messages with malicious PDF attachments. When opened, the file leads to a fake login page designed to steal your personal information.

Experts say to be cautious with unexpected attachments, especially those that open a web browser or ask you to log in. Even if an email looks legitimate, take a moment to verify it before clicking links or entering your information. Always stop and think before you act.
