A Bowie County jury has sentenced Rodney Jerel Lindley to two life sentences for the shooting death of a Texarkana mother.
Lindley was found guilty of murder and felon in possession of a firearm in the September 13th, 2023 killing of Mercedes Young. Young was shot and killed in the bathroom of a home on Alexander Avenue while her two daughters and four other children were inside.
Jurors took about 15 minutes to decide the sentence. The life terms will run concurrently in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
