The Shreveport Police Department has arrested a man who struck a police officer with a vehicle while fleeing from a traffic stop.
According to the Shreveport Police Department, Caleb Cheatham was stopped by police around 10:45 a.m. on January 20. When an officer approached the vehicle, Cheatham attempted to flee, striking the officer. A vehicle pursuit ensued with Cheatham eventually crashing into a parked vehicle in Bossier City.
According to police, Cheatham and an unknown passenger then fled on foot. A K-9 officer was able to prevent Cheatham from escaping and he was placed under arrest. The passenger is still at large.
Police found two handguns and a rifle inside Cheatham’s vehicle. He has been charged with battery of a police officer and aggravated flight.
According to Shreveport PD, the officer struck by the vehicle wasn’t injured.
Due to the laws issued in reference to mugshot releases in the state of Louisiana, we are required to remind that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
