Schools across Texas will be holding “random intruder detection audits” in the following weeks.
These audits are part of Governor Greg Abbott’s efforts to ensure that Texas districts are stepping up security after the tragedy at Uvalde. As part of the audit, staff members from the Texas School Safety Center will be looking for weak points in campus security and attempting to gain entrance to campus buildings as quickly as possible before meeting resistance.
TISD affirmed that they have increased security on their campuses this year, including automated door locks, exterior security cameras, and higher fences.
While local law enforcement will receive forewarning about the auditors’ arrival, the campuses will be unaware of their presence.
