A structure at an outdoor rodeo in Dekalb Texas burned to the ground early Tuesday morning. Leaving land owners to discover figurines were hung by ropes on the nearby announcer's stand.
The Fire Chief Robby Barett tells KTFS Radio, the fire department responded to what they called in as a "normal fire" shortly after 12:30 a.m. to put the fire out. Barret says the fire took place at an outdoor rodeo arena on FM 992 north of Downtown. The snack bar burned to the ground. No injuries were reported.
Chief Barett says he contacted the fire marshal, as well as the state fire marshal who will conduct the investigation.
Mayor Walker says two figurines were found handing on the other side of the arena hanging from the announcing booth. At this time the investigation is underway for possible arson and whether it is connected to the figures that dangled from the arena. Until the investigation is complete, the Mayor says they can not move forward with a possible reward for tips or punishment.
The mayor says the City of DeKalb is "a very inclusive community." Walker continued to say " anywhere you go you are going to find people that have despicable views."
He reassures his community he is doing all he can to solve this issue.
No suspects had been identified as of Wednesday, May 24.
