Mother throws child from Louisiana bridge

The Houma, Louisiana, Police Department responded to a call about a woman throwing her child from a bridge on September 23.

The suspect, 30-year-old Asha Randolph, allegedly threw her 18-month-old son off the Liberty Street Bridge into Bayou Terrebonne.  She then entered the water to retrieve the child, leaving two other children, ages eight and six, unattended in her vehicle.

Randolph was arrested for attempted first degree murder, child desertion, and obstruction of justice.

The infant was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover from his injuries.
