Police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a bicyclist.
24-year-old Cole Arendt was arrested by Texarkana police and charged with manslaughter in the August 30th incident that occurred at the Road Runner gas station on West 7th Street.
According to police, Arendt’s Camaro was traveling in excess of 80 miles per hour when a Dodge Ram turned left in front of him. Arendt struck the truck, left the roadway, and hit 20-year-old Joshua Simpson. Arendt’s vehicle then struck a Silverado pickup before coming to a stop back on the highway.
Simpson was treated for severe injuries at Wadley Regional Medical Center before dying the following day.
Arendt turned himself in to police on Tuesday morning. He is being held in Bi-State on a $500,000 bond.
