A Marshall man was arrested Friday night after a standoff with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office.
46-year-old Bryon Nelson allegedly assaulted a family member around 9 p.m. before arming himself with a machete. Nelson allegedly threatened deputies when they responded to a report of domestic violence at a residence near the “Crossroads Community”.
Nelson then retreated to a barn on the property, refusing to drop the blade after deputies ordered him to, according to police reports. The HCSO activated their Emergency Response Team, surrounding the barn and, when Nelson refused to come out, the ERT deployed chemical munitions into the structure. The ERT then entered the barn with Nelson still refusing to drop the machete.
Deputies managed to disarm him and placed Nelson under arrest.
