City offers walking tours this Fall

The City of Texarkana, TX, Parks and Recreation Department will offer a new Spring Lake Park Walking Tour this Fall.

This tour is focused on the “Walk Through History” markers that were provided by a grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife in 2019.

“The Walk Through History signs were installed before the pandemic in 2020, but they have served as interesting stops for those using the trail at Spring Lake Park,” shared Community Engagement/Parks Project Manager, Keith Beason. “Based on the success of the Cycle Through History bicycle tours downtown, we decided to provide a different option targeting those that enjoy walking in our parks.” The Walk Through History Tours are free and will be held each Wednesday at 9:30 AM from October 12 – November 2nd at the pond at Spring Lake Park, beginning at the south entrance by Lynn Drive and S. Park Road.

Anyone that is interested in the Walk Through History tours should sign up at the following link, https://forms.gle/oQYovYBJP53FpPxPA, or follow the QR code that is included on the flyer.

For additional information please contact Keith Beason at (903)798-1715 or keith.beason@txkusa.org.
